Yogi Berra grew up in the Italian district of St. Louis, Missouri, where he played softball, baseball, soccer, football, and roller hockey. He was the 1st played organized baseball with a YMCA team, and later he played American Legion baseball. He batted left handed and took most catchers but threw right-handed.
