Tecumseh was the chief of the Shawnee Native American tribe in the early 19th century. He built a confederacy of tribes in an attempt to fight the westward expansion of the US and the resulting encroachment on Native American freedom… He and his followers allied themselves with the British during the “War of 1812″ and fought in several battles against the US.
