Xerxes ,also known as Xerxes the Great, was the king of the Persian Achaemenid Empire, was a Persian ruler who served as the fourth King of Kings of the Achaemenid Empire. He is remembered in western scholarship for his defeat by combined Greek forces during his invasion of Greece in 480 and 479 BCE.
